joshua's Professional Information

I am a full-time private tutor available for new students in St. Charles / St. Peters and St. Louis county. I offer tutoring in ESL and English, including grammar, writing (basic writing skills, creative writing, and effective essay writing,) and reading.

I also teach effective research / study skills to my students, including library searches and the internet. Instead of handing my students the answers to every question, I encourage and instruct them on how to use the resources available. I have positive attitude and always use my sense of humor when tutoring students to make learning fun!

I can currently teach basic math skills up through 6th grade. I am planning to advance my math skills with study to further offer a wider range of tutoring.

My qualifications:

I worked as a Substitute Teacher 2009-2010 School Year.

I graduated with a BA in English from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2007. In my studies, I focused on creative writing, non-fiction writing, literature, and worked many hours performing peer editing.

My overall GPA while at the University of Hawaii was 3.79/4.0.

I also received an AA in Liberal Arts from Kapiolani Community College in 2005.

My overall GPA while at Kapiolani Community College was a perfect  4.0/4.0.

My academic awards include Dean’s list, Co-Valedictorian at Kapiolani Community College, and membership in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

I charge $20 an hour for K-12 and $25 an hour for college students. A small mileage charge may apply for any location greater than 20 miles from my location. Please provide your address for a quote on mileage. For long term commitments paid in advance or tutoring sessions with multiple consecutive hours, I will consider discounts.
