Roger is a graduate of Durham University, UK, and earned his doctoral degree in chemistry from the University of East Anglia. After working as a research chemist for several years around the US, he settled in Hampton Roads, VA., and became an educator.
He has since taught middle school and high school in both public and private school environments. Since 1993, Roger has taught college level chemistry, and has considerable one-on-one tutoring experience in chemistry, math, and physics.
A strong commuicator, he is adept at breaking down difficult material into more manageable concepts. He has a passion for helping students "get it", whether by drawing on everyday analogies, offering different perspectives, or carefully applying doses of his legendary sense of humor and warm personality.
He has twice been honored with a "Student's Choice Award" from his institution, has appeard in "Who's Who Among American Teachers", and is a member of the American Chemical Society.
