I am not an answer book for students. I prefer to give students understanding to what they are learning, and that mostly comes from practice and experience. I take all of my lesson materials back to basic definitions, axioms, properties, and theorems because that is where mathematics is understand. One cannot forget how to produce solutions to problems if he/she knows what the driving force is behind the particular problem. I utilize information given in class and in the textbook, not because I do not know how to do it without the resource, but because it is a guide for students when a tutor is no where around; they need to be able to use the guide in the best possible manner on their own. Most importantly, I do not accept poor attitudes regarding mathematics when I tutor; because of my personal past experience I believe any student who is willing to learn this difficult subject can do it.
