ken's Professional Information

I worked for one school year as a teacher, licensed in mathematics for grades 7 through 12. I taught freshman through seniors at a local high school. As a professional tutor, I have helped students succeed in their math courses, from middle school, all the way up through college students in their middle age. I guide students through the solution to a math problem, rather than simply showing them the next step, or giving them the answer. In other words, I make sure that the student earns the solution to the problem, step by step. When proceeding through the steps to solving a math problem, I provide a lot of structure for the student to follow. When it is the student's turn, I continue providing this structure like scaffolding, while letting the student perform the necessary operations and place the numbers in the right places. Like training wheels, I gradually, I wean the student off of this scaffolding as he or she learns the methodology. Fortunate to have experienced success in mathematics throughout my life, I am proud to share the talent, passion, and discipline which I have been blessed with, to help students achieve math success in their educational journey.
