It has been my pleasure to serve as a teacher for 15 years. After briefly leaving my post to stay home with my son, I resumed my work with the district as a substitute teacher. This has enabled me to stay current on district methods and goals. I know what the kids are doing in their classrooms and what the expectations are for them. I hold a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. As a busy mom of an active fourteen year old, I know what it is like to juggle job, child’s activities, and child’s schoolwork. I have developed some key strategies which are helpful to my students and their busy families! My philosophy is child/family centered. It is really about having the right tools. Not only do we all need the right tools, we need to be taught the best ways to use them. This varies for each of us. I’m a big believer in arming every child with a “bag of tricks” all their own so they can take on their school tasks with confidence! Over time, these strategies become habits that serve them well throughout their school years and beyond. Take it from me, it is possible and it is within reach!
