Encouragement is primary. Giving a person a reason to accomplish and knowing they can with a little effort and desire. I spend time talking and trying to bond with the student by identifying their goals and lost dreams. Once this is accomplished, we develop an IEP (Individual Education Plan) and we stick with it by making small measureable accomplishment often. We minimize stress, eliminate traditional classroom structure, promote responsibility and encourage each student to help another person in class. In 2006, I was Teacher/Tutor of the Year through Southwestern Indiana Network Education (S.I.N.E.) program.
