Dear Potential Students and Parents,

Thank you for your interest in finding a patient and professional tutor.  I would like to briefly introduce myself and my teaching background.   My name is Robert, and I am from Seattle, U.S.A.  I graduated from the University of Washington (Go Huskies!), with a degree in Linguistics and minors in Physics, Math, and Music History.  I have been a teacher and a chess coach for more than 20 years in the U.S. and abroad, where I taught students of all age groups (from young learners to office professionals) at private schools and other institutions.  

My specialty areas include chess, ESL English, and test preparation.   First of all, I have extensive chess playing experience.   Since 1999, I have been coaching chess to enthusiastic students at private elementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools in Seattle and in Taiwan.  My chess lessons range from one-on-one instruction to group classes, whether in-person or online via Skype (teacher_bob).   I enjoying coaching beginning, intermediate, and advanced students for personal-enrichment and for tournament training.

Secondly, I also take pride in teaching ESL English.  I am seasoned at training students to improve their English skills such as speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, phonics, pronunciation, vocabulary and word usage.  In addition to General English, I also teach test preparation classes for the TOEFL and TOEIC exams.

All in all, I am excited to teach the following subjects (ONLINE)-- CHESS (Beginning, Intermediate & Advanced Levels); ESL ENGLISH (All Levels: Conversation, Reading, Writing, Grammar, Pronunciation); GENERAL SCIENCE (K-12: Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics); SOCIAL STUDIES (K-12: Geography, World History, U.S. History); LINGUISTICS (All University Undergraduate Levels); MATH (K-12: Basic Math, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus); TEST PREPARATION: SAT, TOEIC, and TOEFL (All Levels)
