While I was in college, I worked at the tutoring lab on campus, helping other college students with papers, grammar, reading comprehension, and other specialized courses (for example: literary theory, Middle Eastern Literature, advanced grammar, etc.). I also volunteered as a tutor at the YMCA working with kids ages 5-12, teaching them basic English skills and helping also with basic math and science. I consider tutoring an incredible tool that can facilitate and encourage the natural intelligence of the student. My goal in tutoring is to show the student that they have the ability to learn and grow in ways they never considered. I work as a facilitator to put tools in the students' hands so they can further their own educations.
