I have worked for many years as a social work supervisor, and also working with children and families in need of different services. My degrees are in Sociology and Public Administration. I still enjoy reading, learning and working with children and adults who want and need help. My background, plus children of my own, gives me what I feel is a connection, a caring, and some understanding of people. I also find that I still learn from conversing with others, no matter how simple the information is.
Each student is unique. I have patience with students. They have different strengths, weaknesses and backgrounds. To connect with a student and to get into their world, I will ask questions such as, do you like school?, what is your favorite subject?, what is your favorite sport or hobby?, what music do you like?, etc. Besides the lesson, to instill motivation, hard work and enjoyment in learning, that is necessary also.
I want to make a difference in a person's life. I have had and continue to have success with my students. I enjoy educational tutoring and have six years of experience.
