My tutoring services include a parent conference, briefly at the beginning and then for several minutes at the end of each session, to maintain connections with school work as well as home practice assignments that spawn from our tutoring sessions. My younger students have all had major gains in their end-of-the-school year guided reading assessments and my adult students are experiencing success in passing college level competency and end-of-course exams. After 20 years of experience, I have found that it is productive to give frequent positive feedback to help students build independqance and maintain a healthy self concept in relation to their academic work. I have had experience teaching a range of age groups from elementary age students to adults at the local community college where I am an instructor.
