I look for the reasons that the students are having trouble in their field of study.Then I concentrate my teaching to correct that area with fun examples in the real world to show why what they are learning is important.
Many students in technical subjects like math and the sciences will ask "why am I being taught this, what will I use it for"? So I show them what it is used for so they will gain interest in the subject.
