Throughout the twenty years I"ve been engaged in the education process I've developed many techniques to facilitate learning. For example, many professionals don't get the exposure of working with incarcerated students. This is clearly one of the most challenging tasks for anyone seeking to get experience in the bussinss. The environment forced me to engagein utilizing many of the behavioral/ psychological methodologies purported by Maslow, Ericson and most notably Freud in developing a rapport conducive to an educational environment. Utilizing these themes provided me with the tools to take chage of the most tumultuous sitiuations. I didn"t know it at the time but, it would become the cornerstone of the " Turner Taxonomy" developed in 1993 to assist students in passing regents, rct's and basic ifnal exams with astonishing results. More importantly, by utilizing the theories of these theroists I was able to juxtapose cognitive develop to improved attendance. To put it differently, the taxonomy initiated the essential changes for cognitive development and comprehensive leaening. At this this juncture, I began to realize that I had to excel in classroom presence, ability tonot only extrapolate events whether fictional/nonfictional, or historical biographical, but to synthesize materials at a glance for many of the learning disabled students I encountered. It was these two facets of teaching in unison that helped me professionally to to fulfill the desires of many students who believed that school was fraught with failure. Since I was successful at persuading students that high expectation and accomplishnent were within there grasp on many occasions I was asked to engage one on one instruction.
Many of these combined approaches, allowed me to aspire in other aspects of education as well.I recall vivily my experiences with adult education. Many stuents with a diversity were forced with dismally low expectations to learn to improve their opportunities in America.Dealing with their difficulties, made me cognizant of the varied uses of a taxonomical approach. To this end , I still see people today offering thanks.
