I am a special education teacher with six years experience in an elementary communication development classroom. I also have an additional three years experience working with early childhood aged students in a formal education setting as well as over ten years experience babysitting/nannying children aged birth to twelve.
I have experience teaching all subjects to children on the autism spectrum, communication disorders, deaf/hard of hearing, adhd, learning disabilities and all levels of cognitive abilities. I can provide tutoring directly to your child in reading, math, writing, language skills, social interaction/play skills art, sensory exploration, TEACCH, picture exchange communication systems, community outings and daily living skills. I have experience teaching reading, writing and math to children of varying ages, abilities and who communicate through speaking, signed english, picture exchange systems and AAC devices.
I have experience in using signed language -signed english when working with students. I can use this to teach through sign, teach sign to young children, toddlers and infants.
I can also provide consultation in structuring home life for day to day living, chores, meal time, behavioral challenges, social interaction with other children, play time with families, self-help skills, family outings and many more. I can also work with siblings of children with disabilities to help the whole family learn how to communicate and play together.
I have extensive experience in designing and creating exciting learning materials and tools and can create activities, visuals, schedules and behavioral assistance specifically for your child. I have created many materials that visually explain abstracted concepts. I also can create and adapt activities for any type of learner - kids that need to move, do, see, touch, explore and create.
