jennifer's Professional Information

I'm a current student at the state University of New Paltz. My majors are Biology and Sociology. From being a biology major, I have taken a wide array of classes into biology, genetics, chemistry, statistics, and other levels of math. I have a wide interests in both sciences and maths, but have taken other classes at college including histories, and spanish, so if there other needs of the student i can help. 

My Style of tutoring would including teaching and presenting the material, and then practicing through examples. I feel that learning the material is not enough to fully understand it, but being able to solve problems with that material is very important. I also feel that all the material that I teach should be fully understand, and by having a one on one learning environment with  a tutor, the student will feel more freely to asking questions, that they may shy away from in class. But without asking these questions, it could lead to misunderstanding the material. 

I personally have used tutors for some on my classes, and from their styles I have learned how they can help. It allowed me to simply better understand the teachings, and in the end earned me better grades in those classes. I don't see tutoring as for someone doing poorly, but as someone that is doing ok, and wants to fully understand the teaches, and wants to do great in that class. Neither should tutoring be seen as a punishment, because in the end you are rewarded with a better understanding of the material. 

WIth my college schedule, this leaves with a large amount of time to tutor, and I'm available on weekends also. I can tutoring during weekdays, but my evenings are free as well. I will also be here over winter break.
