I am earning my Ph.D. in American History at American University. This fall I will begin my second year and I have a 3.95 GPA.
I did my undergraduate work at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 2006 with a double major in English and History, with a 3.7 GPA in History. Also, I was the valedictorian of my high school (San Pasqual, in Escondido, CA; student body of 450 in my class).
Additionally, I have five years of experience working with elementary, middle, and high school youth both as a track coach and program director for Cub and Boy Scout camps.
My tutoring style is best expressed in UCLA Sociology Professor Jerome Rabow's book Tutoring Matters: Everything You Always Wanted to Know About How to Tutor. I believe in enthusiastically engaging students, treating them as partners in learning. Through listening and responding to their academic needs, they should feel comfortable and motivated to achieve excellence.
I tutor American history, English, public speaking, study skills, and writing.
