I have 5+ years experience tutoring from Elementary students through College Math and Physics. I have 3+ years of experience in classroom teaching of math at the college level.

Every student has different needs and learning styles.  I adjust my style to meet the needs of each individual.  I always encourage students to ask questions and make sure they understand my instructions.

I like to find out what each student's goal is for our tutoring.  Then we make a plan together for the best way to reach that goal.  It could be  to get a certain grade in a class, or it could be to build a better foundation for future learning.  It's easy to shut down and stop learning when you are frustrated with something, but if we can take a step back and asses what the real root of the issue is, then we can address that issue and find a way to move ahead.  Sometimes a basic misunderstanding of something minor can make everything seem difficult.

I find that often it is helful (and even fun!) to work on problems that interest us as individuals.  I can tailor problems to meet each individual's interest.  My son loves his math problems to involve Indiana Jones:), and of course I can relate math topics to real world issues, such as finding the best value for your dollar, calculating how much water you actually use for each appliance in your house and if an energy saver appliance will actually save you money in the short and long term.
