I am a certified Middle School Science and High School Biology teacher and have five years of teaching experience. In the middle school curriculum I have taught basic physical science, chemistry, genetics, cells, evolution, ecology, and astronomy. Within Biology, I specifically studied Plant and Soil Science and have a good deal of experience with Environmental Science. 

I have always taught science, but am able to help with tutoring in many areas, including writing, design, computers, and economics. I have always integrated a lot of writing into my science curriculum and have experience with teaching writing and editing students' written work. I taught myself photography, graphic design and web design in high school and worked in the field all through college. I am also a mixed media and encaustics painter.

I am able to help with homework and classroom assignments as well as create enrichment or additional practice assignments for students. I like to work with students to discover their personal learning styles and their strengths and enable them to utilize what they are good at in their work. I do not do work for students but help them to understand and do things on their own. Sometimes this takes more practice, more demonstrating and more encouragement than others, but I believe all students have the ability to succeed.

I was also home schooled 4th grade until college so while I have a great understanding of running a public school classroom, I also have experience with 100% personalized home education and the benefits of such. I would love to work with home school students. I was taught using a literature-based interdisciplinary curriculum, but I believe the curriculum must fit the student and everyone is different. I know that both my public education and home school learning/teaching experiences mesh together to make tutoring a strength of mine.
