I have six years of experience working with college students in and out of classrooms in Mathematics and Physics subjects. I have worked with students of varying abilities, speeds of working, and ways of thinking and am sensitive to the particular needs of a given person. My method is to first build an intuitive way of seeing a topic, followed by the problem-solving techniques that are most reliable and concise, emphasizing the need to drill with many problems as a way of creating "muscle memory".  I look for particular hang-ups that a student may have along the way, and focus on resolving those.  I am personally aware of how lack of confidence and panic can lead to poor performance, and believe that having a good tutor should alleviate this.   

  I have a PhD in physics, with a substantial background in mathematics. I enjoy teaching as much as I do learning. While a graduate student I worked every term as an instructor leading problem-solving and laboratory sections of the Introductory Physics courses at Penn State University. I served as lecturer for a Summer physics course there. I also tutored students outside of my teaching duties, incluing students of Math courses such as College Algebra, Calculus and Linear Algebra and all introductory Physics courses, both algebra-based and calculus-based.  

I am also available to tutor the Italian language, as I lived and worked there for two years at University of Milan. I continue to travel there often and my knowledge of the language is advanced, both at the technical level and spoken-language (colloquial) level.  My method is to introduce rules by practicing with their usage in common phrases. Students can practice written and spoken exercises, strengthening their reading, writing and coversational skills together.

 I am currently available to meet in person, in private or public locations, in the South Orane County (including Irvine) area.
