daniel's Professional Information

Hi, my name is Daniel Moyer.  I'm a professional artist with an interest in sharing the knowledge I've acquired during my career.  A lot of getting to be a professional is about knowing a few niche art tools, tips, and techniques, and I want to pass on the ones I know.  Art is a language, like any other, and being fluent can alter one's chances of getting the job, getting into the school, or just being a better communicator.  Anyone can learn, and I'm interested in teaching people of all ages, from all walks of life.  

I have a bachelor of fine arts in Production Animation from DigiPen Institute of Technology, and I graduated from the Perpich Center for Arts Education in Minnesota with my focus in photography and videography.  My interests have always leaned toward creative endeavors, even since I was little and my bedroom floor was covered with tiny sculptures made from Sculpey clay, my walls covered with pinned up drawings.  

I've spent the last year as a freelance graphic artist, and am currently doing 3d modeling and animation or airports and airplanes for a small company that has a contract with the FAA.  In my professional career, I have been a storyboarder, concept artist, art director, animator, and character artist.  I'm proficient in many industry standard softwares, and am glad to teach what I know about them as well as classic technique (drawing, painting, et cetera).  

Teaching has always interested me, but now especially since my wife and I have a baby on the way.  Before my career in the art & entertainment industry began, I was a student aid at DigiPen, helping students to improve their animation, and also to better their knowledge of 3ds Max (a 3D animation package).  

I look forward to talking with you, and helping you to better understand the fundamentals of art, animation, and visual storytelling.
