Hello, 

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Michele Pillay and I have been tutoring students for five years.

My area of speciality is working with students with learning differences, learning disabilities as well as dyslexia.

In order to tutor effectively, I have learned that I can not have one particular style, rather be able to tutor using many different modalities including: Visual/Verbal, Visual/Non-Verbal, Tactile/Kinesthetic, and Auditory/Verbal. In being able to adapt to my students learning style, I have found that I am much more effective as a tutor.  As a teacher, I uses all learning modalities in teaching my lessons to students so that I touched on a learning style for each student. I have found that teaching/tutoring on a child's specific learning style is the most important key in tutoring/teaching. 

In addition, I have discovered six highly effective habits that I as a tutor possess that causes amazing results, allow me to share those with you: being proactive, assessing student at specific intervals during the tutoring process, developing a working alliance between student, parent and tutor, modeling appropriate behavior, determine students learning style and tutor student in the specific way that they learn best, and last of all communicate effectively. I believe when a tutor has acquired these simple habits, the effect is amazing.  My experience is that student's self-esteem increases and success is sure to follow. 

Parents, know that if you hire me to tutor your child I will integrate your child's learning style into the lessons I teach; as well I will implement the six highly effective tools I have found that create immense success within the student.
