I have been a tutor for close to six years in an array of subjects. Most specifically I have been tutoring in my field of study history as well as in religion. My tutoring style is simple, I tutor however the student learns best. If they are visual learners I will use a lot of visual aids. If they are better a memorizing facts then we will memorize the facts. My approach to tutoring is to do it how the student will get the most out of it. Tutoring based solely on myself is no benefit for the person I am tutoring, therefore it is simply the best to base my style and approach on the student. I believe strongly in teaching based on students different learning styles. I also love to have fun. If by fun the student needs to go and seek out as much knowledge on a subject, I will bring whatever they need. I will use whatever the student needs to learn including things like globes, posters, games, additional reading materials, basically anything to insure the best learning. I especially like to use music if there is a good song about a certain subject. I do however, prefer to tutor from the schools required texts. If there is a specific history book that the student is studying from then I will use it and only it. I will not add anything unnecessary to the students learning. I am willing to tutor based on parental preferences or for older students their interests. I will if asked suggest further reading on certain subjects and documentaries. I will never impose my own interests upon anyone I am tutoring, as I am definitely student driven. I only ask that the student has all the necessary supplies and materials on hand. I myself am a college student and do not readily have the funds to purchase items.
