I have my Masters in Physics, which translates to about 6 years of continuous study. I have worked solo and in groups to learn concepts and solve homework problems. Some of my favorite memories are working in the physics lounge on problems, learning and teaching, sometimes simultaneously. Frequently we had to help each other to wrap our heads around the problems and how they worked.
Since then, I've enjoyed tutoring. Either fellow classmates on a particular problem and its solution strategy, or younger students. While still in school, I tutored a small group of students having difficulty with their high school physics class. While working as a TA for a lab class, I had to construct and present my own lesson plans on how each experiment was to be executed; neither the professor nor the other TA were willing or able to do this.
My strongest subject is obviously physics and math, as they are so deeply intertwined. By math, I refer to everything from arithmetic to advanced vector calculus. In addition, I have had to do extensive writing throughout the years, analysis both literary and scientific.
The easiest method of tutoring (from my perspective) is to aid a bright student who has stumbled when it comes to a few homework problems. I am perfectly willing (and somewhat excited) to go much further than this and generate my own "lesson plans" to help students who know they need to attack an upcoming subject, but aren't quite sure where or how to begin. I'm perfectly happy working through a study guide for one of the standardized tests, or going through the list of subjects and generating my own questions and material.
My fees will reflect the current going rate for tutors and whatever time invested in helping get the subject matter conquered.
