I enjoy watching my students succeed. I have an unlimited amount of patience. As long as I see that a student is trying, I never give up. My greatest pleasure comes from transforming students by increasing their confidence, I believe that is the key. Every student is smart in different ways and in different areas. Once the basic skills are taught, a student can develop in their own learning style. I feel its like learning how to walk. You teach a small child the basics, and before you know it they are running! I have successfully increased math and english skills in children who were below benchmark. I ran a specialized program for small children who were having trouble with reading. My specialties are English, Algrebra I and II. I have the skills to make math make sense. I can tutor any grade in almost every subject because I have a passion for education and helping others. It's as simple as getting started. As a tutor I would like to make good use of technology by combining both physical and online meetings. I will provide constant feedback and keep careful records. I use state standards to make sure my lessons are in sync with current grade level expectations.
I have worked for nearly three years for the school district as a bilingual teacher assistant and many more years as a private tutor.
I feel that one of my greatest strengths is my own personal experiences. I come from a disadvantaged background and I went to under performing schools. I have been able to break through barriers to attain my education. I stand today as proof that anyone can make it and anyone can be successful. Enrichment is one of my top priorities.
