My tutoring style varies on the students I will tutor. I have a basic guideline that I follow which includes, discussing the students learning and personality style of learning, I usually implement traditional and hands on learning adaptation. Each student is tutored based on individual preference. I have the ability to adapt lesson plans on each student. I follow the basic educational curriculum that begins with Reading, Writing and Math. It is how the subjects are presented to the student, in which determines the student's concept of comprehension and actively participating in how to solve each subject.
I have achieved two undergraduate degrees, a Graduate and a post Graduate degree(s). I emphasize my accomplishments, because I was labeled as a "different" learner, I had difficulties in comprehension, and Math was one of my other difficult subjects. I believed in myself I could overcome these labels that where placed on me and I became determined to obtain a post graduate degree. It was extremely challenging, especially when everyone, including family and teachers, where not supportive, so I did it on my own. I encouraged the students I tutored and taught in a public and private schools. I helped the students find what was their learning style and to emphasize in their strengths and believe anything is possible especially learning difficult subjects. A lot of the students did poorly in Math because Math actually frightened them, not because it was a difficult subject, but because when they tried to learn the subject according to the traditional teaching method, they where labeled as a learning difficult student, which will frightened any student.
I have over 20 years experience in the occupation of Education, My career experience includes; a Paraprofessional, Classroom Teacher, Guidance Counselor, Behavior Specialist and a Tutor. I look forward to an exciting and knowledgeable experience.
