I love teaching and working with students! I myself was home-schooled and tutored heavily during my high school years, so I understand the immense value of having one-on-one time with a teacher and the immense affect it can have on the improvement of a student's performance. What I love most about teaching and tutoring is of course seeing students improve, but more than that, seeing the joy of understanding on a pupil's face. That is such a wonderful reward! I have 5 years of teaching experience in the humanities (English, Writing, Grammar, History, Social Studies). My college degree is in fine art, and although I love teaching art and maintaining my own art practice, I also love English and History! Understanding how to be a good writer will aid in any career path a student chooses to take, and that foundation begins in learning how to write well during the school years. And of course, a good grasp of grammar and the English language is essential to being a good writer. Studying History and social studies also has its importance; we need to study the past in order to learn where we have been, learn what was done well and learn from our mistakes.

I prefer to meet one-on-one with a student to work on what we are planning to study together. My goal is to travel along with the student, as if I was learning what they are learning too, but to then act as a guide in the areas that are unfamiliar or strange. I am not just going to give the answers away or provide an easy way out of an assignment, that is not learning. Learning is seeing where you have gone wrong, understanding why that is incorrect, and fixing it.
